Meet Dr. Kari Borgen

dr kari borgenI love being an orthodontist. Making a positive difference in peoples’ lives is unbelievably rewarding. Smiles build confidence and change lives. It is a privilege to provide orthodontic care to our patients and be a part of their remarkable transformations. I truly have the best job in the world!

Every patient is an individual, and orthodontics is about bringing out the best in each individual. It is my responsibility as an orthodontist to use the best knowledge, tools, and techniques to turn each patient’s smile into a work of art. I strive to provide personalized, quality, compassionate care to each and every patient while creating beautiful, healthy smiles for life.

Education

I am committed to lifelong learning. My education began at Lewis & Clark College, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. I continued on to Oregon Health and Sciences University, where I graduated first in my class with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. My Orthodontic Residency and Master of Science in Orthodontics were also completed at OHSU.

Orthodontics, like life, is a learning process, and continuing education is vital to upholding the quality standards of our profession. I am dedicated to staying current on the scientific research and developments in all areas of my field to provide my patients with the best possible care.

In the Orthodontic Community

I am a member of several professional associations that offer numerous opportunities for continuing education. I have also served as the Northern Regional Program Chair for the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, selecting speakers for our regional continuing education meetings, and am Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.

In the Office

I pride myself in the quality of care I provide, and that begins with having a great team. I am blessed to have an amazing team that shares my passion for patient care. From the front office to the clinic, everyone is trained and committed to help in giving our patients the best possible orthodontic experience. We all work hard to give our patients the attention they deserve.

Family Life

I am married to my best friend, Dr. Ryan Hughes, who is a pediatric dentist in the Lake Oswego area. We look forward to starting a family and raising our children in a wonderful community. Ryan and I spend our free time enjoying all the Northwest has to offer, including snowshoeing, skiing, boarding, hiking, biking, eating great food, and drinking amazing wine. We also enjoy competing in running events and triathlons throughout the year — except on Saturdays during college football season!

I have been a member of the Lake Oswego Junior Women’s Club since 2008. Our focus is fundraising for nonprofit organizations in the community that aid women and children in need. I am also currently on the Lake Run Committee and have helped to plan the race for the past two years.
