Meet the Orthodontists
Kari Borgen, DMD, MS  Dr. Kari Borgen is a native Oregonian from Redmond. She completed her undergraduate studies at Lewis & Clark College, earning a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Borgen then attended the School of Dentistry at OHSU where she received a DMD with high honors and graduated first in her class. Dr. Borgen went on to complete her specialty training at OHSU and earned a Master of Science in Orthodontics. Dr. Borgen is a member of several honorary societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi national honor societies, as well as Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity, and she is a selected member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Alpha Omega dental honor societies. Dr. Borgen is also certified by the American Board of Orthodontists. Dr. Borgen lives in Portland with her husband, Ryan. Dr. Ryan Hughes is a Pediatric Dentist in the Lake Oswego area. Kari and Ryan spend their free time together enjoying all the Northwest has to offer — snowshoeing, skiing, boarding, hiking, biking, great food, and amazing wine. They also enjoy competing in running events and triathlons throughout the year. Dale Rhoney, DDS, MBA  Dr. Dale Rhoney is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and the Orthodontic Program at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Rhoney also holds an MBA degree from George Fox University and is certified by the American Board of Orthodontists.Dr. Rhoney has over thirty years of orthodontic experience in private practice and has dedicated twenty years of teaching to the graduate orthodontic department at OHSU. He also served as Program Director for four years. He is actively involved in the politics of the orthodontic specialty. Dr. Rhoney serves as the chairman of the Oregon Orthodontic Specialty Board and is an executive board member of the National E.H. Angle Society. He is also past president of the Oregon State Society of Orthodontists and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Rhoney lives with his family in Lake Oswego and actively supports the schools, arts, and local businesses. His wife, Kay, is an occupational therapist and special education teacher for the Lake Oswego school district. Both of his daughters successfully went through the Lake Oswego public school system and have gone on to attend college as well as graduate school. Dr. Rhoney participates in numerous civic activities in the community. He was awarded the Lake Oswego's Community Leader of the Year in 2004. He is past president of Lake Oswego Rotary, the Lake Oswego School Foundation Board, the Lake Oswego High School PTA, and the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce. Both Dr. Rhoney and Dr. Borgen are members of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and Oregon Dental Association. They are Certified Providers for Invisalign and stay current on evidence-based orthodontics by attending continuing education courses throughout the year.
